Thank you to everyone who responded to the post I made here. Unfortunately... plans changed.
Despite a whole series of conversations- the adoption place we dealt with talks with every member of the family before they release an animal to them, plus a home visit- the parents in the house (it was a family with adult children, early twenties) suddenly decided that they didn't want a dog after all. And then locked their kids out of the house until they got rid of 'it'.
So, 'it's' back in my living room again, panting and staring at the cats. Fucking brilliant.
It's not the adoption places fault, it's not the fault of the brother and sister, who were totally on board with everything- they even bought a brand new crate for him instead of accepting a loaner from the adoption place- and for a dog Loki's size, that's about $150 or more. But the parents.... Fuck you very much, people, for putting a whole bunch of us through the ringer. So glad that so much of my day was spent on something that half-broke my heart and now I'll have to go through all over again.
I want a do-over on the day, please. Or to just forget this one.

Date: 2006-07-24 11:31 am (UTC)I'm sorry this is all happening - it's hard enough to reach the 'right' decision and then to find a solution only to have it fall apart. I know there's someone out there just perfect for him.
Crossing my fingers for you babes!
PS - I survived Texas and the family - wheeeeeee!
