I haven't posted anything I've made in a long long LONG time, so I guess I was due! These are all things I've been working on over the spring and summer, mostly at work and such. Some of them are for 'assigned' babies and folks, people I know about, and some of them were me liking the yarn. I'm shallow that way. Okay, so on with the project spam!

(PS--for bonus points, play 'spot the Snafu', who decided that it was his job to 'help' the Academic Husband take these pictures for me.)

Yellow knit blanket and sweater:

The blanket... lord. I started this blanket back when I still lived in Vancouver, when I was just a baby knitter and really not very good at all. I had no idea what I was doing, and for every row that I managed to complete, I think I had to pick back another three. I got frustrated and sent it to my grandmother to finish, but she never was able to get to it. Some three years later, I'd had some more practice, and I decided I was ready to give it another try. I just finished it a couple of days ago. I was going to give it to someone, but I've decided to keep it. I never make things for myself, and I love yellow (and okay, it's got some mistakes in it and isn't perfect so I don't want to give it away), but I also love it, so it's mine.

Blue/White/Blue&White crocheted baby blanket, and knit blue sweater:

These actually don't go together--the sweater is going to match up with a blue version of the yellow blanket above, which I'm making for my sister. But I liked them together anyway. The blanket isn't made for anyone in particular--kind of hanging out, waiting for someone who's having a boy and likes things that are BLUE. I'm really pleased with how it turned out though.

Pink/White/Pink&White crocheted baby blanket and pink knit sweater:

The same as the blue one, but in pink. And the Academic Husband got a little creative on the photo angles while taking pictures. I think it's kinda cool, actually.

Purple/green/white crocheted baby blanket and knit purple/green/white sweater:

These were made for my brand new nephew who was just born... less than two weeks ago. We knew he was going to be a boy, and I wanted something that wasn't just blue for them. The Academic Husband just got to go and visit him for the first time yesterday, and I hope that they took some pictures.

Yellow/Green/White crocheted baby blanket and yellow and green knit sweater:

This was made for friends of ours who we've known since college who just had a little girl just over two weeks ago. The Academic Husband is in Vancouver right now, and he's going to get to meet her, and I'm so jealous.

Green knit sweater:

This one is also 'unassigned'. I had someone in mind when I made it, but by the time I got it finished, the baby was far too big for it, so now it's just going to hang out so that I'm a little bit ahead of the game next time someone has a baby *g*!

Multi-coloured squares blanket:

This one isn't finished, but still in progress. It will be a big-girl-bed blanket for my niece who will be turning two this fall. I wasn't entirely sure about this one when I started it, but I have to admit... I kind of really like it now. There's something almost hypnotic about it. It worked out a lot better than I expected.

Blue verigated ripple afghan:

This blanket will be for my sister when she gets married next summer. I'm making two--one for her (this one) and one for her husband. His is going to be a duplicate of the one I made before for my mother, in current 'Canucks' colours. If you look at the top, you can see that this is the point at which my boy cat, Snafu, decided to start 'helping'. This will continue as the photos do.

Blue and white granny square blanket:

Another wedding present, this one for the AH's cousin who is getting married this October. This blanket fits perfectly on a double bed.

And now? Kitten spam

Snafu cleaning his paws and 'helping'

Snafu still 'helping'

Snafu watching and thinking about pouncing.

More watching.

These are lovely - especially the purple/green/white baby blanket! You must be incredibly patient... I'd never have the endurance to knit even one blanket, let alone the skill for blankets as pretty as these.

Only one of the blankets is knitted, all the rest are crocheted. I don't think I could knit all the blankets... little things are fine, but knitting big things is a HUGE pain in the ass, even though they end up pretty. Huge, huge, HUGE pain in the ass.

And thank you! I'm really happy with how most of them turned out too, on the whole!

Snafu is adorable.

So many knitters on my f-list, when i actually have a baby if I don't get sent at least a pair of booties I am going to be so upset. Maybe I'll get my mum to teach me how to knit.

Isn't he a precious one? I love that kitten, even when he's a little asshole.

HEE! When you do have a baby, you'll have to send me your address. I'll totally hook you up, dude--I've known you about online long enough by now!
