I know what you mean about fandom malaise, I have my main fandom (hockey) which I am always somewhat involved in (I hardly write anymore but I try to be a good fandom person in that I offer to beta and I try to leave feedback on a lot of fics, even of the most basic variety) but other fandoms I just come and go like fashion.
For me it's weird to be in dead / dying communities because hockey will never stop.
