It's all about ME!

Okay. I have Things, and I've decided to separate them into two different posts, because they're whoa nelly different, and combining them would feel wrong. This post is all made up of good things. Thinky things and bad things will come later.

Today, I had a low-key and totally awesome birthday, which is just the way I like them. The boy didn't work this morning, so I got to sleep in. The boy and I had agreed that for a sort-of-birthday present, we would have a maid service come in for two hours just to do a really good job of the kitchen/bathroom/floors, and they showed up right after I got up, and did a totally awesometastic job.

While they were over doing cleaning, two of my friends from high school came over to visit and hang out and chat and visit with babies. One of them brought me flowers, the other brought me a two-litre bottle of Pepsi. My friends know me so well. We got to baby-squee, and we got to extra baby-squee because one of my friends is having her first little one sometime around Christmas!

When my friends left, both babies took a nap (I KNOW!), and I got to go online and see all the lovely messages, cards, and emails, and facebook comments that people had left me wishing me a happy birthday. You are all made of awesome and sunshine and puppies and skittles, and I adore you. Thank you so, so much.

My Monkey woke up first, and she and I went outside and sat in the grass and she learned to pick dandelions. She also learned to eat dandelions, but we're working on that. My boy came home, and went and got my mom, who came over with mother's day presents (first one with the babies on the outside, yay!), and birthday presents.

For my birthday, from my parents? They're flying my grandmother and favourite aunt in from Victoria so that they're here for the babies first birthday this weekend. Guys, I seriously almost started to cry. I wanted them to come so badly, and it wasn't working out (I thought) and my aunt was working (I thought) and I'd given up on the idea, and I opened a wee little box of a folded up piece of paper with a picture of my gramma and aunt wearing bows on their head and wrapped in wrapping paper that said 'your present arrives at the airport at 10:00am on Saturday'. Sometimes? I really love my family. Especially for their ability to keep secrets.

On the spur of the moment, I decided to take my mom, my babies, and my boy for dinner at Boston Pizza. The Frog ate everything without spitting it out (WIN!) and the Monkey spent most of dinner flirting with our server. And considering that I ate there at least twice a week during the last trimester I was pregnant, I'm really not surprised.

I came home, I got presents from my boy, and I got to come online and answer more emails, talk with a bunch of my best of best friends, and write some porn. A clean house, time with friends, my boy, my family, my aliens, and writing porn and chatting with my besties. Yep. That's pretty much what I call a successful birthday. Which is made of awesome.

Thank you so much, all of you for being all of you, and all of you who helped add to me having what was really an awesome day.

Oh, also randomly, I have a Wonder. Is there an icon that you particularly associate with being 'me'? I ask this because there are people who are much more locked into a default than I have always been, and I don't know that I've got an icon that I super regularly use as 'me', and yet there are lots of people who I totally associate with a particular icon.

This came up tonight a few times, once when I linked to an icon which was totally blank and unfancy, with no name attached, but just from the specific picture, the person I was talking to said 'oh that's [so and so's] icon!'. So now I'm curious. What icon do you think of when you think of me? What says 'Jay'? (And if this is over on dreamwidth, I really need to get on that whole paid account thing so I can actually have my 'me' icons uploaded, and not just a few!)

awesome day! The first mothers day as an actual mommy is pretty darned cool.

I love the idea of a maid service.

It was cool! Looking at these little people and going wow. I'm a mom, dude. Seriously. There's something really awesome about that.

Maid service was like, the best idea ever. My bathrooms are clean, and I didn't have to do it. That was worth the money. Seriously.

Love the maid service.

I associate Natalie icons with you in general. *hugs*

Sorry I missed your birthday. Happy belated? :)

It was awesome. Clean kitchen, man. She used a toothbrush on my cabinets and on my sink. For real. So awesome.

I'm hearing that--Natalie=me. That makes sense I suppose!

And thank you! I'm not celebrating it much until the weekend, when I get to celebrate with my boy and my babies too. They're going to be ONE, Kristen. Oh. My. God.

WOW! I only get that level of clean when a kid pisses me off.

:D

WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! you made it through the first year! YAY YAY YAY!

OMG - I got to hold one of my employees babies a couple nights ago. SMALLER THAN JORDAN AT BIRTH! And this kid was 3 months old.

[identity profile] linden-jay.livejournal.com 2010-05-13 01:23 am (UTC)(link)
You wouldn't have known what to DO with my itty bitty babies, dude! You wouldn't have felt like you were holding anything at all! They didn't start looking like proper newborns until they were what, two, three months? Something like that.

[identity profile] kristinholt.livejournal.com 2010-05-13 01:32 am (UTC)(link)
I wouldn't have been able to hold them for a while, no bullshit. :D I always feel like I'm going to drop them when they're real tiny. I have a FB friend from elementary school. His wife had a 33 weeker. OMG. less than 3 lbs.

[identity profile] linden-jay.livejournal.com 2010-05-13 01:40 am (UTC)(link)
You know what? I would have understood, dude. It felt really weird to hold them for a long time. Like there just wasn't enough of them there, like it couldn't really be a 'real' baby.

They were feisty from the start though, that was for sure!

[identity profile] kristinholt.livejournal.com 2010-05-13 02:04 am (UTC)(link)
There are some people who don't get it. But when you've had a baby come home from the hospital in 3-6 months clothes, holding a baby that tiny is very very shocking.

Whooo hooo! Feisty is awesome.

OMG, HIPPO BIRDIES!

Yeah, I suck at keeping up with LJ.
