Rome: Memorable Quotes...

I really never would have guessed that certain scenes from episodes of Rome would become among my happy place television... especially considering that the show alternately freaks me out/grosses me out pretty much every couple of minutes, and I'm a colossal wimp. I'll admit, the hotassedness that is James Purefoy as Mark Antony helps a hell of a lot. I was trying to remember the lines from one of my favorite scenes today, and when I couldn't find the quotes online, I tossed in the DVD's and transcribed the section. From Season One, Caesarion:

Mark Antony: Everyone misjudges me, you know. I'm a merciful man. I know that's not my reputation, but I am. Now, everyone's entitled to a few mistakes. Gods know, I made one or two myself. I've done things... things I'm ashamed to think of.

Cicero: We are, all of us, imperfect in our way.

Mark Antony: Exactly. We are, all of us, imperfect. Give me your hands brother Cicero. With all my heart... I forgive you.

Cicero: I don't know what you mean.

Mark Antony: Nothing escapes me. If a pigeon dies on the Avantine, I hear of it. *soft laughter* So be assured, brother, if I ever again hear your name connected with murmurs of treachery... I will cut off these soft, pink hands, and nail them to the Senate door.

Gotta love the Romans, man. They knew how to get things done.
